Reassuring after a 2-0 preseason loss to the Thunder and Chicago Bulls without Chet Holmgren. The Denver Nuggets bounced back strongly on Monday night, passing Devin Booker and others in a tight game 107-105 at Ball Arena.
The most impressive part of the win wasn’t just that Denver slowed down Booker’s ability to limit his shooting to 20 points, 5-of-17 from the field and 2-of-9 from 3-point range. But they also have the opportunity to pass the ball without their best passer, Nikola Jokic, and get everyone on the attack. Rookie Christian Brown, seasoned point guard Ish Smith and explosive Burns Hyland are impressive.
Now the Denver Nuggets are turning their attention to the Los Angeles Clippers, who are leading 2-1 in preseason and looking to continue their hitting streak at home tonight. While the Nuggets’ recent victory over the Suns gives fans cause for optimism, the latest odds point to the Clippers as the team to beat.
According to the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, Los Angeles is -3.5 and the team is -110 (bet $110 to win $100). The Nuggets are +128 and the Clippers are -165 (bet $165 to win $100). The over/under game is currently set to 215.0.
The Nuggets appear to still be healing injuries from two of their deadliest offensive weapons, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Bones Highland is also considered a player due to a sprained left ankle earlier this week. Centavius Caldwell-Pope and Aaron Gordon may also miss the rest.
